Here is David's obituary from the Elko Daily Free Press:
David V. Murphy (1960-2011)

David Murphy, 50, went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2011 after a short hospitalization. He was born in San Diego, CA on December 16, 1960 and moved to Nevada in 1993. David enjoyed outdoor activities, writing, reading and most of all spending time with his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond P. Murphy. He is survived by his wife, Sheree Murphy; mother, Patricia Murphy; brothers, Stephen Murphy (Barbara), Paul Murphy; sister, Kathryn Mims (Scott); nephews, Michael Mims, Matthew Mims and niece, Caitlin Mims. David was known for corny jokes and contagious laughter. He is no longer in pain or suffering and he is spending eternity in sweet fellowship with His Lord and Savior, Jesus. A homecoming celebration will be held at 11 AM, on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, 2225 Industrial Way, Elko. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Lighthouse Christian Fellowship. Donations will be used for youth activities and/ or mission trips
